Meet Your MLA!

Are you sick of:

  • Working in extreme heat with no added protections?
  • The government not taking extreme heat at work as a serious health and safety issue?
  • Having to choose between making rent/paying for groceries or risking heatstroke on the job?

So are we! We’re fighting back by mobilizing workers in B.C. to escalate their concerns to their local representatives (Member of Legislative Assembly, or MLAs), and making sure that our MLAs are doing their job in hearing, understanding, and representing their constituents.

We know that taking this next step can be daunting, especially if it’s your first time. But have no fear! We are committed to assisting you in meeting your MLA: from the step of drafting an email, to setting up a meeting, to showing up to the meeting prepared with your talking points. Through 1-on-1 meetings and/or workshops, you’ll get access to the tools and skills you need.

Together, we can push for a provincial effort to support precarious workers struggling under the climate crisis. These skills also prepare you for any other future advocacy you decide to do through learning the essential skills to participate in democratic processes.

Here’s how it works:

1. Let us know you want support in meeting with your MLA by filling out the form.
2. WSN will get in touch about setting up a meeting with you.
3. We’ll help you identify your MLA, draft an email outlining your demands, and practice talking points for the actual MLA meeting.
4. A staff member and other WSN members can show up to your MLA meeting to support you!

Thanks for making your voice heard!
