3rd Annual Summer Potluck | Worker’s Wednesday

August 29, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Our favourite time of the year is upon us:

The Retail Action Network’s Annual Potluck – a celebration of worker action and class struggle against bosses!

This event is an opportunity to extend appreciation for everyone who has supported the Retail Action Network and joined in our fight for workplace justice! We invite our members, allies, their friends & family, and anyone looking to become more involved in the coming year!

This will be a special time in which we will celebrate the amazing and dedicated organizing of Kaitlyn Matulewicz, as she will be migrating her organizing efforts to the arid valleys of the Okanagan.

This year will also feature a real live Bean Bag Tourney in honour of our great friend Bob (who has recently retired from his organizing work with the Hospital Employees’ Union). Participants are welcome to join in or spectate.

We look forward to presenting updates on our past months, as well as share some exciting news about the months ahead.

We really hope that you can join! Please read below for additional info, or contact Heidi@RetailAction.ca for more information.

This event takes place within the traditional territory of the Lkwungen peoples, today represented by the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations. The Retail Action Network organizes within Lkwungen, W̱SÁNEĆ, and T’Sou-ke Territory. The displacement of Indigenous people from here and around the world, through colonialism, has historically been the backbone of capitalism and a vehicle for the extraction of resources. Working class settlers through history, displaced from their own communities, have been pawns to enforce the violence of colonialism. This process continues today. Colonialism has important and real implications for why and how we organize workers. Centuries of resistance to capitalism and colonialism have shaped today’s labour movement; we continue to learn and take direction from Indigenous led anti-colonial movements. We extend our appreciation to the Lkwungen, W̱SÁNEĆ, and T’Sou-ke peoples for the opportunity to live, work, organize, and celebrate together on this territory.
