DESCRIPTION:Fall is upon us!\nBut changing over your wardrobe for the colder weather and buying new costumes for Halloween can be unnecessarily wasteful and expensive. That’s why Retail Action Network is hosting a (FREE) Clothing and Costume Swap! Donate your gently worn clothes\, shoes\, accessories and  Halloween costumes\, and in exchange\,  find some new-to you items.  \nParticipating in a clothing swap means less energy and resources go into the production and transportation of new clothes\, and less money goes to supporting corporations who may not be paying their workers a fair wage. Mirrors\, changing rooms\, and good tunes will be provided. Childcare is available.  \nIf you have clothing/shoes/accessories/costumes to donate ahead of time\, you may drop them off at the VEC anytime during the day on Friday October 20th. DESCRIPTION:Your Rights at Work 101 \nJoin the Retail Action Network for our monthly free workshop that will leave you with practical information about your workplace rights.  \nHaving your hours cut last minute? Unsure about overtime rules? Facing discrimination at work?  \nLegal advocates from the Employment Standards Legal Advocacy Project and the Vancouver Island Human RIghts Coaltion will be there to answer your questions and share what they do to support workers. \nThe workshop is FREE and will run from 5:30-7:00 at the Victoria Event Centre (1415 Broad Street). DESCRIPTION:Art Night is back again for a third round! Join us for a night of art making and creativity. Supplies will be provided. People of all ages and abilities are encouraged to join us\, no previous experience necessary! \nThere will be a few different tables set up to facilitate the use of some different mediums! Closer to the date we will be announcing exactly what will be featured this time (we promise that the button maker will be out).  \nAs an option\, we are hoping attendees would like join us in creating handmade posters and banners in support of the fight for a $15 minimum wage. There will also be an opportunity during the evening to go out and post our artistic works around downtown!   \nSuggested donation is $5 to cover the cost of supplies (no one will be turned away for lack of funds). \nThe bar will be open. CASH ONLY but there is an ATM on site.
